Created by the duo of New York-based artist and innovator Merty Shango, and Chennai-based music producer Quazi Mode, Try Us is the first single from their upcoming EP featuring a variety of genres pushing the boundaries of hip-hop and creating a new wave of cross-cultural collaboration. Try Us features pulse pounding hip-hop beats and futuristic sound design, which carry Shango’s infectious rap verses and hook that give listeners a rush of inescapable energy. The lyrics, written by Shango, were inspired by his first-time travel to India and his awe of the country’s rich culture and music. The collaboration of Shango and Quazi brings an effortless blend of cultures and harmony through a thoughtful balance of stylistic approaches to sound and visuals. To help bring to life the overall appeal of Try Us, the duo brought in upcoming filmmaker Ken Royson and his production squad to film the “out of this world” music video in Chennai. Shango’s wardrobe in the project is part of the current collection designed by Space Biskit, a Chennai-based renowned futuristic fashion label with roots in Brooklyn. The video also co-stars super model and upcoming actress Krithika Babu. The debut single from Salt Haus Records, Try Us is “food for the soul,” a sonic onslaught of melodic hip-hop and trap music that can satisfy the palette of any music lover around the world.
